COVID-19 Contingency Plan

We are working hard to provide continuity for our children and families while maintaining adherence to public health advisories. We will continue to provide our community with information on daily preventative measures and any updates to our COVID-19 specific contingency plans.

Daily Preventative Measures: What we know is that like all other viruses the most effective way to reduce spread is to actively practice proper hand washing, cough etiquette and staying home when sick.

  • At all times, staff and students utilize appropriate hand washing and hygiene procedures.
  • Curbside or front door pick-up and drop off (procedures will vary based on the site).
  • Temperature and wellness checks of students performed at the door before students enter the building.Staff wear masks and gloves while performing screenings.
  • Daily temperature and health checks of staff.
  • Consistent disinfection of all high traffic surfaces (doorknobs, light switches, computers, phones, etc.)As a licensed childcare program, Just For Kids utilizes bleach solutions with specific concentrations required by Central District Health. In addition, we are using a stronger bleach concentration of 1000ppm for restrooms. Each JFK site is also spraying the Retaliate solution provided by the District’s custodial department at the end of the day.
  • Encouragement of social distancing throughout the day:
    • Centers are limited to specific materials which are then disinfected after use.
    • Children engage in centers in small groups.
    • Children are encouraged to stay arms’ length apart when lining up to go outside.
    • Students are spaced out at lunch tables for meal times. When weather permits, meal times will be held outdoors.
    • We have transitioned from family style service of meals to individual portioning of snacks.
    • Cloth masks available to staff and students to use when consistent physical distancing is not possible or as the individual feels comfortable.

COVID-19 Specific Contingency Plan:

During this time, we have specific procedures for restricting the attendance for children that attend the program and staff working at our JFK sites.  We acknowledge that families choose if their child will attend child care.  If a parent chooses for their child to attend, we cannot control the spread of viruses given the large amount of children despite our best intentions.  We have put the following procedures in place to reduce the spread of illness at our sites:

  • Upon notification that a parent, child or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19 and been within the facility in the last 7 days, Just For Kids will consult with Central District Health and close our facility for 24-72 hours to disinfect per CDC guidelines and Central District Health directions. This procedure will be implemented if ordered by public health officials or if there is a report of exposure by staff or child to COVID-19. Every effort will be made to give notice of this but we are limited to the timeframes in which were are informed of requirements. Please note that we will not provide childcare in this phase.
  • Per CDC guidelines, if we identify a case, we will report this to Central District Health, inform anyone who may have been exposed, and follow Central District Health guidance.

Please continue to support your child and remind them to take these actions to help keep you, your family, and others healthy:

  • WASH, WASH, WASH YOUR HANDS! This cannot be promoted enough and is the most effective step towards preventing the spread of any virus.
  • Do not touch your face, particularly your eyes, nose or mouth. These are the most vulnerable areas to viral infection. If you must touch your face use a clean cloth or disposable tissue and wash your hands afterwards. We are teaching the children about this important step, please reinforce this at home and/or when in the community.
